These Terrible Depths

(Lyrics)

Inspired by:
The short story The Temple by H. P. Lovecraft

I see myself as rational
Above the fears of average men
But here I have delusions
That I cannot comprehend

Faces that I should not see
Voices that I should not hear
In darkness I am trapped
On this crippled ship

Amongst a grand ruin
Horrific and magnificent
There is no escape
I face the inevitable

And set my mind at rest
I meet my fate
In these terrible depths

Against this lost terror
I don't fear death
I fear the loss of my sanity

An iron will may yet break
Against this abnormality

The voices of the unknown
The faces of the dead
From that temple of dread

A demonic laughter
Sounding in my head

I face the inevitable
And set my mind at rest
I meet my fate
In these terrible depths

The time drags on to nothing
Even here I can't assume
Take heed of this account
That some record may survive

I send myself to death
In a world beyond mankind

I face the inevitable
And set my mind at rest
I meet my fate
In these terrible depths
